An inscription from Palitana, dated 1530 AD during the reign of Bahadur Shah of Gujarat, refers to him as Gurjardharijaya. This further confirms that the term Gurjar in inscriptions denotes the land/region of Gujarat, and not the Shudra Gujjar community .
