Is my bedroom or basement a better place to set up a workspace?

My bedroom is oversized and I could set up on the other side of the room across from the bed. But will smells still be an issue?

With the basement, I'm worried about ventilation and the electronics being too close to ethanol fumes.

It's a good sized basement but it's not like I can open a window. Would an air purifier help?

I might be able to set up in the opposite corner from the breaker box, but could being close to a pc tower be an issue? My roomate has his gaming rig downstairs, should I try to keep my distance from it?
