I think I fumbled a job interview today telling them I have epilepsy🤦🏻‍♀️
A nearby retail chain had open interviews earlier today. I have been working for two years and this is the first interview I’ve had in a while. It’s also the first interview I’ve had since I was diagnosed with epilepsy. One of the questions that was asked was why I haven’t had a job since been in the state and I said that I was diagnosed with epilepsy shortly before moving and was still getting my seizures under control when I moved. Now that my seizures are better under control I decided I’d probably be just fine going to work again. As well as just needing a job at this point.
Now I’m worried that disclosing the fact that I have epilepsy is going to get my application pushed to the bottom of the pile of applicants. I don’t think I’m incapable of working now that I have been diagnosed with epilepsy. Hell, I don’t think I would really need a bunch of accommodations for me to be able to work retail again. But now I’m not sure if me disclosing my condition is going to cost me this potential job🤦🏻‍♀️
