Can't figure out if I'm overreacting while my beardie has a respiratory infection?
I had my 6yo beardie at the vet yesterday for a possible infection and was given antibiotics that she's to get once a day for a week, so 5 more doses left. And honestly I'm just kind of a paranoid pet parent looking for some confirmation on if I'm overreacting or not because it's very hard to find any info online about what to do with beardies who have already been to a vet, been diagnosed and are currently being treated.
She's still had plenty energy until her doses of antibiotics kicked in and made her a bit drowsy. And she's still got a good appetite and will try to take my finger off to get a worm after taking her antibiotics, but is as stubborn as ever about veg since I can't explain she needs the hydration.
But the part that has me wondering if I'm overreacting or not is she spent today breathing through her mouth more often than not. This is the worst she's been since she started showing symptoms on Sunday afternoon (so 4 days and roughly 10hrs) and I'm curious if beardies are like humans and have a point where their infection peaks at its worst before getting better or if I need to take her back to the vet? She hasn't looked to be in much distress, more mildly inconvenienced than anything, hasn't had much of a dark beard, and is a pretty light colour as she sleeps right now despite still opening her mouth every few minutes and has done since her light turned off a couple hours ago.
I'm also open to any general advice that could make her more comfortable and help her through this too, the vet was very professional and clearly knew what he was talking about but didn't answer many questions which is why I'm here instead.
Thank you to anyone who can offer advice!
