Who is the Prey?

Overview

"Who is the Prey?" is a Chinese manhua that has garnered significant attention for its dark, psychological thriller elements and controversial romance. The story features a strong female lead (FL) and a male lead (ML) who is often described as a "black flag yandere" due to his obsessive and manipulative behavior.

Plot and Characters

• Female Lead (FL): She is praised for her strength and resilience in enduring abuse and manipulation. "She is so strong for enduring all the abuse, suicide, and abortion. She did not f*cking give up! It’s impossible not to sympathize with her."
• Male Lead (ML): Initially, the ML is depicted as a sadistic and controlling individual who inflicts severe trauma on the FL, including forcing her to perform sexual favors and orchestrating a gang rape. "at the beginning he forced her to blow job another man, chapter 8 - gang rape her in chapter 6, you can see the aftermath in chapter 7 when she takes a shower." Over time, he develops an intense obsession and love for the FL, leading to a complex and often disturbing character arc. "He does a lot of things people in this sub don't like but I enjoyed every moment of it."

Controversial Themes

• Yandere Trope: The ML's character is a subject of debate within the yandere community. Some argue that his actions are too extreme to fit the yandere definition, while others believe that his obsession and willingness to harm for the FL's sake make him a legitimate yandere. "Same,I don't know how he's considered a yandere when he's just a sadistic psycho" vs. "Yanderes who hurt the fl are still considered yandere… it’s the part about obsession that counts, and he’s very obsessive."
• Psychological Thriller: The manhua is praised for its psychological depth and thrilling narrative. "Who Is The Prey!!! It's a psychological tragedy and so fucking amazing???"

Adaptations and Translations

• Chinese Drama: A Chinese drama titled "The Confidence" is an adaptation of the manhua, featuring the same storyline and characters. "I had watch a Chinese drama of this webtoon the drama name was confiden same to same each and everything"
• English Translations: The manhua is available in English translations, but finding the complete series can be challenging. "I couldn’t put it down but I NEVER FOUND THE ENDING IN ENG 💀"
