Soil thermometer recs?

I have raised beds whose soil isn't the best and I want to introduce some worms into them. They don't have a solid bottom, so they touch the Earth, but I'm still worried about the worms baking.

I'm going to buy shade cloth, mulch the tops of the bed, and paint the metal sides white. I just want to be able to monitor things.
