Any Gossip Girl fans? This reminds me of Kelly Rutherford’s (Lily van der Woodsen) custody battle over a decade ago.

It was a really intense child custody dispute between her and her ex-husband. They initially had a temporary joint custody arrangement. But then, Kelly basically accused him of being a drug lord and got his US work visa revoked. Done in assumption that she would get full custody because he wouldn’t be able to enter the country. Then, the ex-husband won the custody battle and the kids were sent to Monaco to live with him.

Kelly also kidnapped the children during one of her scheduled visits with the kids, refusing to send them back to Monaco.

That case really showed how quickly things can escalate when immigration status and child custody overlap. I hope Liz and Landon’s case don’t go anywhere near that direction. It will get complicated quick.
