Android Auto -worth it?

Hey all. My 2016 Fit came with the stock JDM Gathers headunit. Very basic, all I use it for is to connect my phone via Bluetooth.

I've looked online about potentially upgrading. If I did I would go for a reliable/known brand vs the cheaper ones (from what I've read they can be laggy).

Question though - is it actually worth it? I must be missing something because from what I've seen the main use is for your music and GPS, however I've never had an issue using my phone and a ten dollar holder for this purpose. Seems silly to go from a $10 investment to something potentially 50-100x more expensive. Plus the reverse camera works just fine, and it'd suck to lose that functionality.

I haven't owned a car with AA or carplay, so please let me know what I'm being ignorant to.
