Pen Tip at Spire of Insight missing. Help!

I cannot find the pen tip anywhere in the Spire of Insight. I checked the back room where it should be and it's not there. I even killed my character as a reset and it's not there. I fear that I may have taken it and sold it a while back without knowing what it was. I can't continue unlocking sky islands without it. Am I cooked?
