Glutamate breathing issues.

Discussion :Discussion:

This is gonna sound so weird.

But, every now and then I go through phases where I had a lot of trouble breathing. As in, a bit of a dysautonomia feel, or like I was slightly hyperventilating to the point where it seems hard to take a full breath. It's annoying as hell.

It seems to happen, especially, after anything GABA or too many nights drinking in a row (which is very infrequent). Almost any GABA agonist seems to cause rebound for me. And rebound seems to lead to the breathing thing. Which... is happening now.

Don't have apnea, also not overweight, not athma, def seems to be tied to this glutamate/excitation situation.

Wife is a hospitalist, so she's ruled out anything major. But, it's a constant annoyance when it happens- for like a day or two. Annoyingly enough Alcohol DOES make it go away, but then, like a yo yo it comes right back

Always think NAC should help, but for some reason it doesn't do the trick.

Glycine does the opposite and gives me rebounds- sometimes I even get twitches from it.

Basically, the only thing that has ever helped is magnesium, which of course I take consistently, but I'm wondering if anyone has any NMDA antagonist type things they'd suggest trying.

I know it's a strange one, it's just.... how my body reacts.
