For those of us who have Gen Z starting in 1999 or 2001, is it overthinking it to not just use 2000?

I understand the 96 is gen z types being too far away, but for someone leaning towards around 99 like me, is it illogical to just not go a year later in 2000, and have the first born in the millennium angle. It still fits the timeline I like the most which is the average borns being around 9/10 when Trump 1, early woke, etc. started, 13/14 during covid and 17/18 during Trump 2 election.
