alternatives to xero 360 rally for tennis (with an emphasis on wide toe box)
I am an advanced beginner/rusty intermediate tennis player, coming back to the sport after a 20 year hiatus. I wore my rutsu hi tops to my first lesson the other day and they were very comfortable, but I did minimal running because we were mostly assessing and problem solving some stroke inefficiencies.
The pair of Xero 360 rally shoes I purchased online arrived today and I'm underwhelmed. They seem narrow compared to what I'm used to wearing, though I can see how the relative stability would help me especially once I start moving around the court a lot (part of why I stopped playing was recovering from 2 knee surgeries and at that time the lateral movement and stopping and starting was painful! this is no longer an issue, but then again I haven't played in 20 years so I may find that there is discomfort, though I don't anticipate it).
I am going to exchange them for a half size because although I followed Xero's sizing instructions, they feel a little short for me as well during my at-home movement experiments.
My online research has led me to Altra Solstice XT 2, which looks more like a running shoe to me, though everything I'm reading claims it's a cross trainer suitable for court sports. It's wider than the xero 360 rally shoe, also zero drop, but with a lot more cushion.
I'd love any recommendations of wide toe box shoes for tennis available in the US in a size 38-39.
Thanks!
