AITJ for getting my boyfriend arrested unintentionally?
So, my friend (F, 23) started dating this guy (M, 20) last year when she was a sophomore. He told her he was a student at her school, but turns out, a couple weeks later, he admitted he wasn't a student and was actually homeless. My friend, being the understanding person she is, didn't want to just ditch him, so they stayed together, and she genuinely fell for him.For the next few months, she was juggling sleeping in her dorm and sleeping outside with him, which started messing with her grades. Then, get this, he set her bathroom garbage can on fire and lied about it! Long story short, she ended up getting kicked out of school because her grades tanked, and they lived outside together for four months until they finally got an apartment.Things were cool for like three weeks, but then they started arguing constantly, and he'd do stuff like throw tea in her face (she was about to shower, but still!), grab her wrists, pull her hair, threw her into the ground, Threw her outside naked.. just a bunch of messed-up stuff.Yesterday, she was grieving her best friend who passed away around this time two years ago, and he was trying to talk to her, but she didn't hear him because she had her headphones on. He started accusing her of stuff, being all insecure because HE'S the one cheating on her! It escalated, and he didn't hit her, but he threw her onto the bed and into the wall. She started screaming and kind of blacked out. She tried to go take a picture of the moon to calm down and leave, but he ended up holding her near the balcony and trying to pull her back inside. She screamed again, and three of their neighbors heard and called the police. They arrested him for false imprisonment and domestic violence. She knows she should be happy, but she feels so guilty and like it's her fault he's in jail. So, is she the jerk?
((TLDR: At the beginning of their relationship she was telling him that she was undiagnosed and needed to be on meds, he didn’t believe her for the longest and low and behold like a month ago she was diagnosed with Bipolar-1 and is now on medication for it.))
