If you found out your kid’s pajamas had 20x the safe limit of lead in them, would you care which brand it was? Because it was Shein. And they just got sued again.
I keep seeing Shein hauls everywhere. TikTok. Instagram. People I know. So I’m just going to leave this here.
-
Canada tests a Shein toddler jacket. 20x the lead limit considered safe for kids.
-
Greenpeace tests Shein products. Finds formaldehyde in a baby girl’s dress.
-
South Korea tests 93 Shein products. Half are toxic. A pair of kids’ shoes has 428x the legal limit of phthalates. That’s not a typo. Four hundred and twenty eight times.
-
Greenpeace tests again after Shein promised to fix things. 18 out of 56 products still over EU limits.
-
Texas sues Shein for toxic products marketed to kids and pregnant women.
Revenue in 2020: $10 billion. Revenue in 2024: $38 billion. Projected 2025: $60 billion.
Every time they get caught they remove the listing and keep going. Because the lawsuits cost less than doing it right. And the math works because we keep buying.
I genuinely want to know. For the people who shop there and have kids. Does this change anything? Or is $4 for a toddler dress just too good to walk away from?
