The Oz 100 - fates
So how did the Oz 100 end their tenure on the show?
Murdered: 50. Fully half of the main inmate characters were straight-up murdered. Wow. This doesn't even count Warden Glynn or other non-inmates, or the (many) random inmates that weren't main characters (thinking of you, poor rando who made out with Beecher in the laundry room).
Note: I'm counting both Scott Ross (never fully confirmed as murder, but 99% implied) and Yuri Kosygin (murder is kind of quasi-canon, never shown on TV but mentioned in an episode description).
Alive and in jail: 30. More than you might think! There were of bunch of characters, especially minor ones who got a flashback but not much else, who basically disappeared from the show. I'm counting all of them as still in jail at the end of the show - I suppose I could go through all of their sentencing time and confirm this, but... well, I've got other things to do.
Executed: 4. Richard L'Italian, Donald Groves, Shirley Bellinger, Cyril O'Reilly
Died of Natural Causes: 4. This being Oz "natural causes" are a little suspect. I have Eli Zabitz (heart attack when Robson and Keller were about to kill him) and Father Meehan (possible evil eye murder by Peter Shibetta) included. Other two are Ricardo Morales (Alzheimers) and Nat Ginzburg (AIDS).
Died in Accident: 4. See above. I included Mark Mack (tunnel collapse helped along by Busmalis) Hamid Khan (put in a coma during the boxing tournament) Andrew Shillnger (Overdose - helped along by Vern, also helped along by himself) and Eugene Dobbins (died during the riot) in this category. You could make an argument for all of them being recategorized.
Suicide: 3. Guilleme Tallant, Huseni Mershah, Chris Keller.
Out of Jail: 3. One exonerated (Jason Kramer) one paroled (Jackson Vahue) one deported (Padraig Connolly). Connolly I suppose is still in jail in the UK, but I put him here.
Dies trying to Escape: 2. Adam Gunzel, Moses Dayell.
