We completed today!

As a family we decided to give up our life in the South East and have settled on living in the South West. I’ve been really fortunate to be able to take my job with me.

We listed our house for sale April last year. It took a while to sell as we lived in a fairly expensive village. However, we got an offer in November last year which we accepted. We found what was the ideal house for us and all was good… or so we thought.

Everything on our sale was moving quickly, but the purchase we just couldn’t get any response from the seller’s solicitors or the estate agent. After we were notified that our buyers were ready to exchange in February and after more and more coming to light with the new house (from our own research) we had to make the decision to pull out of the house purchase. We hadn’t even received a completed TA10 form by this point.

Fortunately, at the time we had started looking and had found another house. The house was in need of decoration and modernisation and was initially listed for a lot more money (which is why I dismissed it originally), but after my wife showed me again (and after the price reduction) we could really see us putting our mark on the place and making it our own. We offered on the 3rd of February which was accepted. Our solicitor has worked bloody hard getting this across the line in time for half term (which is when our buyers wanted to move).

Overall we’re massively excited for the new house. It’s been a bit bittersweet leaving the area I’ve grown up in and my family, but we’re really excited for our new life!

I’m still in disbelief that the solicitors and agents were able to get this across the line in just over 8 weeks!
