Why is the Geely EX5 Extended Range not really talked about?

Question

Why is the Geely EX5 Extended Range basically invisible in conversations?

I’ve been going down the usual rabbit hole and it feels like every second post is either about the BYD Sealion 7 or the Zeekr 7X… and that’s kinda it. Like those are the only two EVs that exist in Australia right now.

But then you look at the Geely EX5 (extended range), and on paper it actually looks… really solid?

- Competitive range (roughly 450–475km depending on trim)

- Seems to have all the usual tech and features you’d expect

- Backed by Geely (same parent as Zeekr and Polestar, so not exactly a random brand)

- Pricing looks pretty sharp for what you get

Yeah, it’s a bit smaller than the mid-size SUVs everyone’s comparing (Sealion 7 / 7X), but from what I’ve seen it doesn’t look impractical or cramped to the point of being a dealbreaker.

So what am I missing here?

Is it:

- Real-world range not living up to spec?

- Ride / build quality issues?

- Brand trust in Australia?

- Just not enough marketing / hype?

- Or is it simply that everyone wants a bigger SUV and that’s the end of the story?

Keen to hear from anyone who’s looked into it properly or even test driven one. Feels like this thing should be in the conversation… but just isn’t.
