AITAH for not playing the wing woman for my friend?
Friend and I used to work together and she’s had a work crush on one of our coworkers for some time. I didn’t think this was that serious because they never hang or talk outside of work, and all the stories I hear from her were about the other guys she is dating. She’s always talked about how cute he is when they work together but he would never be brought up otherwise.
I left that job some time back and we all decided to grab drinks. She got really upset at me that night for “trying to get at him” despite her having feelings for him. I believe it was because he and I partnered up for a game whilst she and our other coworker were teammates. Naturally, because we’re teammates we’d high five or hug, or talk often throughout the game but I didn’t think there was anything over the line happening. She said I didn’t give her a chance to connect with him and felt I was betraying her.
I didn’t know she actually had any feelings for him like that but I apologized and told her I’ll be more conscious. But I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth after she deleted a photo of us from that night, after having told me there’s no hard feelings and that we’re good.
I hadn’t seen the other coworkers of mine in months and it was a night for me to hang out and have fun too, and I feel bitter that she expected me to be the wing woman and is seemingly still upset after us having talked it out.
AITAH for thinking she is overreacting?
TLDR; Friend got upset at me for spending too much time with her work crush / my old coworker when we all went out for drinks but I didn’t know I had to be a wing woman on what I thought was a fun night out to catch up with old coworkers.
