Is $10,550 normal for filing green cards for my kids through consular processing?
Hey everyone, I wanted to get some opinions because I'm not sure if I'm being overcharged or if this is normal.
My wife is a U.S. citizen and we're planning to petition for my two kids who are currently in the Dominican Republic. We spoke with an immigration lawyer and this is what we were quoted:
$4,750 for the visa petition (I-130, forms, etc.)
$5,700 for the consular process
Total: $10,550 (not including government fees)
From what I understand, our case is pretty straightforward. No criminal issues, no complicated immigration history, just a normal petition for children.
My questions are:
Is this price reasonable for two kids?
Does this sound like a high-end lawyer price or just normal these days?
Is this something I could realistically do myself if I take my time and follow instructions?
I don't mind paying for peace of mind, but I also don't want to overpay if this is something manageable.
Appreciate any advice or experiences you can share.
