I feel emotionally exhausted…
I’ve been in a relationship with my girlfriend for about two years, but lately I feel like I can’t handle it anymore. During the first year, I didn’t pay much attention to these issues, but over time they have started to affect me deeply, and now I feel overwhelmed.
I’m not a very jealous person, but my girlfriend is extremely jealous, and it has a strong impact on my daily life. For example, when I go out even with my cousin, she constantly messages me—sometimes every 10 minutes—asking where I am, what I’m doing, and who I’m with. I try to reassure her and explain everything, but it never seems to be enough. Later in the evening, she often becomes distant or upset, saying things like she’s going to sleep, and stops responding until I try to make things right again.
I’ve been giving her a lot of attention throughout these two years. In fact, I’ve almost stopped going out with my friends entirely. When she spends time with her family a few days a week, I completely understand and support that. However, when I go out with my own family, she reacts negatively and expects me to constantly stay in touch with her.
For about a year now, I haven’t even been able to comfortably spend time with my family. Whenever I go out with them, she asks me to call her after a short time. When I do call, I explain that I’m with my family and can’t talk for long because we’re out eating, but even then, she speaks in a distant or upset tone. If I say I need to hang up after a few minutes because my family is waiting, it leads to more tension.
I don’t want to hurt her, but I feel emotionally exhausted. I’ve reached a point where I’m seriously considering ending the relationship because I can’t continue like this anymore. What do i do?
