Has anyone traveled with live fish before

Need advice, me and my boyfriend might be moving from Alaska to Wisconsin and I want to bring my 10 gallon aquarium I’ve had for about 4 years now. We plan to potentially drive through Canada and through the bordering states to get to Wisconsin. I have platys and another tank (10 gallons) for a small crawfish I am wanting to move. My only problem is how I’d heat the buckets I plan to use. I have a usb air pump that can run on batteries that can connect to a sponge filter inside the bucket.

I’ve thought about buying a reptile heat mat that is usb plug in to heat from the bottom of the bucket. I have seen some fish tank heaters that are usb plug-in compatible. Do those work for transporting fish or should I try the reptile heat mats.
