Part 2 should have been as good if not better than part 1....

Discussion

This might sound like me yapping and something that has probably already been said before but I want to put my own opinion on this.

In my personal opinion CSM part 1 was flawed but was also enjoyable and good when reading it, especially makima being the dreadful force nature she was, and also completely scarring denji both emotionally and mentally.

Makima basically made me despise her down to my core and only because she was just a good villain, kinda reminded me like Griffin in berserk, although she does lack the same depth Griffin has, i still think she's a good villain regardless, especially in terms the one's you really want to hate.

i also liked the side characters far more in part 1 than part 2.

aki especially is a good character and his death had honestly hit me pretty hard especially the way it was done.

kishibe is also one of favourite characters in csm.

i also enjoyed powers development as well in part 1 and her dynamic with Denji in part 1 as well.

But i also still felt a lack of complete arc for denji, while yes he has nayuta , i still felt like denjis charecter had more stuff to give, especially at part 2, to me atleast i was under the impression that part 1 was supposed to be about rough journey denji would have to endure to reach the end of it and have a good life, and part 2 would atleast finally focus on denjis struggles in normal life, and how he talks with other people in general.

It doesn't help that beginning of part 2 denji genuinely felt like a character that actually was the collimation of all the trauma and scars he had endured in part 1, even him saying that he has some experience with dating to asa made me feel excited to see denjis charecter without some random maniac trying to manipulate him and just ruining the enjoyment of the story and the writer basically doing his best to blame denji somehow for these problems.

im not gonna say that i expected him to be a literal chad and be completely perfect when dating asa, most first dates don't always go perfect anyways, and it's fine for charecters to have their flaws and have some fuck ups here and there.

but am i really to be convinced that Denji is somehow the problem for most of part 2 when in reality a lot of people just treat him shit, many people literally try to manipulate him, especially yoru, the entire world is essentially reliant on denjis suffering because otherwise the world ends ?

he's blamed for Nayutas death even tho she would have died regardless which is just fucking dumb for the story to make it look like he actually is blamed for this when in reality he didn't have a choice, anybody trying to convince that denji was actually at fault for Nayutas death, is blind and and all it takes for you to realize that it ain't denjis fault for like 3 minutes at best.

for me,i am under the belief that regardless of who the writer is, if you,the writer set up an expectation, it is up to you to deliver that expectation in a satisfying way at the very least without making the fans feel like their time was wasted and making the entire damn story essentially pointless.

the rest of the four horseman being massively disappointing in general compared to makima is just making part 1 look like a lighting in a bottle moment when it should have not been the case, it should have naturally continued off from part 1 and initially it did until the church arc, asa was such an interesting charecter too and i was actually intrigued to see her develop, only to completely get sidelined throughout the rest of the story and basically have yoru control her body most of the time (who is a character i do not like at all because of how she's portrayed during the church and later half of part 2,compared to her earlier portrayal in early chapters of part 2)

especially the fucking death devil, hell literally almost all villains in part 2 are just so bare bones in enjoyment compared to part 1 makima, that yoru being the closest thing to a makima type like villain for part 2, is still written badly too, especially when it comes to her competence and basically making her wins based on pure luck, it doesn't help the fact she replaces the death devil in terms of a final villain for the story, and yoru is just genuinely lacking as villain.

And yet, here we are, talking about how the first part is peak and the second part is trash, when it reality the first part should have been trash compared to the second part.

And btw this is not me saying part 1 is bad, that's not what i mean, what i meant is that part 1 compared to part 2 was smaller, part 2 having more chapters than part 1, makes sense to me atleast, since it's not only developing denji but also the second main protagonist asa as well as the villain yoru, part 2 quite literally has the ingredients to make a really good sequel and and honor part 1 for doing the heavy lifting for charecters like denji, the only thing it needs is to just stick it's landing, the art, the writing for the beginning of part 2 before the middle half was consistent, we could have possibly gotten an actual better conclusion to all 3 of these characters.

But instead we didn't, ever since the church arc part 2 writing quality has gone down, even the art quality went down after Fujimoto Changed to bi weekly schedule instead of monthly schedule,

even the glimpses of hope like denji crying Infront of asa about how he fucks everything up and asa genuinely trying to help denji is only just a slight hope to give fans of maybe giving some character development between both of them, just flip them off and give us this unearned Disney ending.

Fujimoto had the ingredients to make something special.

He has the home run strike ready in place.

But instead of trying to strike for a homerun and possibly miss, he decided to walk off instead, and go on twitter talking about beevers, and also rewatch the big lebowski for the 3rd time talking how good of a movie it is and try to do it himself for csm part 2 ending without even understanding the core aspects of what makes the big lebowski good in the first place

i don't I've seen a manga finale that genuinely felt like a "fuck you for investing in my story" to the audience than csm chapter 232.

the absolute lack of any proper conclusion to either of the charecters and that " it was all a dream" is just childish and made people genuinely confused if this was the ending or not, especially the fact it just now ruins part 1 now upon rereading

And before anyone tells me about Fujimotos one shots and how i should just read those instead, I am not interested on one shots in general, nor do i find them a suitable alternative either for me atleast, and yes i know fire punch is out there, and i have read it and while it's interesting to say the least it definitely way rough around the edges and personally i don't think it was that good for me atleast, but it's fine tho since that was the first manga serialisation that Fujimoto ever did before chainsawman.

chainsawman had a strong start with part 1and had some genuine potential for part 2 , but now it chainsawman has a become another type of "just read this manga and stop at this chapter and don't go any further because the rest of it is trash" series.

people keep saying that you can still enjoy part 1 while ignoring part2,for me i just can't see part 1 the same way anymore After part 2 ending has just ruined it

chainsawman in general and my enjoyment towards, it doesn't help that Fujimoto wrote the end and has essentially just gave up on even bothering to write the story at that point and just tried to rehash some aspects of part 1 and expects it to work again.
