I recently moved to a new country (the UK) and I’m trying to get a clearer sense of where my portfolio stands right now. I work as a photographer (mainly product: skincare, makeup, a bit of jewellery) and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on the quality of my work and how it holds up in a global city.

What are some good ways to get your portfolio reviewed - are there platforms, communities or approaches that have worked well for you?

Would it be worth cold emailing photographers whose work I really admire to ask for feedback? My work isn’t at their level yet so I’m not sure if that’s a good idea or just annoying.

I’m also wondering if I should be focusing more on personal projects at this stage. Most of my work has been client-based and maybe it is that I keep seeing my work but I've started finding it a bit boring.

One challenge is that I currently don’t have access to a studio or much equipment. Do you think it’s worth investing in setting up a small home studio at this point or is it smarter to first secure a job (I've found a freelance job but it doesn't pay too well) that gives me access to those resources?

If anyone here has been in the industry for a bit, I’d genuinely love to get a review from you - I can add my website here if that's allowed or on DM.

Starting over in a new market - Does my portfolio hold up? How can i get it reviewed and improve it?
