Date stamps on or not?

I have a huge dilemma.I take photos of the nature with my sx40hs, and i usually take them with the date stamps on because i like the nostalgic feel and it helps authenticate my photos so they dont look straight off of google. My friends (and chatgpt) think the date stamps ruin my photos and are a waste because they cant be taken off once theyre on a photo.

I dont want to take a bunch of photos with the date stamp if ill regret it in the future, but i do really like them on my photos.

What is ur opinion? Do they ruin photos or not?
