Historic MVP Voting

I was looking this up in response to a post and I found it interesting so I thought I’d post it here.

Between 2000-2020, MVP winners have been the following seeds in their conference:

- 1 seed = 15

- 2 seed = 4

- less than 2 seed = 1 (Westbrook)

Then we had a brief aberration I’d say where we had:

- Jokic = 3 seed

- Embiid = 3 seed

- Jokic = 6 seed

However we then went back to

- 2023-2024 = Jokic (2 seed Nuggets with identical record as the 1 seed)

- 2024/2025 = SGA (1 seed)

The likely MVP winner is going to be whoever ends up the 1 seed in the west, which would make it a total of 18 of the last 25 MVPs (I count the Nuggets identical record to the Thunder the same as a 1 seed) that came from the 1 seed in that conference
