My coworker said someone was obsessed with ruining her life, then HR got involved

I work in corporate, in social media marketing, and there’s this woman in sales who has always acted like she’s above everyone else. I don’t even hate her, honestly. I’ve always rooted for her and tried to stay neutral.

Because I manage our social media accounts, we started getting random messages about her allegedly having an affair with a married man. At first I didn’t take it seriously because there was no proof, and she kept telling people she had a “hater” who was obsessed with her and trying to ruin her name.

So I left it alone.

A few months later, HR got an email. Not gossip. Actual receipts. And apparently, the married man she was involved with also worked in sales.

Now, ever since that happened, she’s been leaning hard on “mental health” and barely comes into the office anymore.

The messages to our socials stopped, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still curious. The person who had been messaging us claimed they had CCTV footage of them going in and out of her apartment, and part of me has been so tempted to reply and ask for it just to see how deep this whole thing really goes.

I know that would be messy and unnecessary, but wow. This whole situation is messier than I originally thought.
