After 3 long years, a couple of Reddit posts finally pushed my solo SaaS, [https://conductor.is](https://conductor.is), onto page 1 of Google, and sign-ups grew 3x in a single month.

Conductor is a dev tool for integrating a niche, archaic accounting system called QuickBooks Enterprise. You would think a product this targeted would rank well for targeted queries, but for years it didn’t.

For years, nothing would improve our SEO. Even after building a fast landing page, a documentation site with 200+ pages/articles, and a GitHub repo with 300+ stars, I was still stuck around #20-60 for the queries that mattered most.

Then a couple of Reddit posts about the startup did well, and Conductor immediatelly moved to around #5 on Google for relevant queries. At the same time, sign-ups grew 3x in a month.

I can’t prove the exact mechanism, but Reddit seems to have helped in a way that X never did for me, even when tweets mentioning the URL got 100K+ impressions.

**Lessons:**

1. Google seems to put real weight on Reddit, and LLMs do too.
2. SEO matters for niche products. Getting onto page 1 tripled our sign-ups.number of new users.
