Entry Level/Prosumer Machine and Grinder [$1500]
Hello! I'm wanting to get into espressos at home for a while now, and I'm ready to pull the trigger get into the hobby.
I was originally feeling pretty set on purchasing a TimeMore 064S and a Breville Bambino (not the plus). I'm having second thoughts because I know that I want to get into lighter roasts down the line and would prefer to start with a setup that can:
- Can work with a wide range of roast types
- Last me at least a few years before needing to upgrade
- Somewhat beginner friendly or has a lot of documentation/tutorials getting started
From what I can see I think the Breville Dual Boiler or the Lelit MaraX are probably better suited for what I'm looking for, but I was kinda taken aback by the jump in price range compared to the Bambino. I also know it's worth more to invest in a better grinder than a machine, so I'm not sure if these are good options if I'm committing to purchasing a TimeMore 064s for now.
Alternatively I've seen good things about the Gaggia Classic Pro + Gagguino.
Some other things:
- Compact size (would be nice, but not the end of the world)
- Ability to create milk-based drinks
- Maybe 1-2 shorts per day
- Before this I've been making pourovers (v60, Kingrinder K6) for about two years now
I'm okay with modding/some electrical work, and I don't exactly have a budget, but I'm trying to not go too crazy since this will be my first setup. Probably within $1500 is ideal but I can go up to $2000 without starting to feel guilty.
Thanks!
