I'm new to Shooting games. Should I bother trying to learn to PvP?

Question

Short version: new to shooters, should I bother trying to get good at aiming or nah?

Never really played them as a kid. I'm an RTS and RPG player. I got Arc Raiders, did a lot of PVE carebear lobbies, did all I wanted to and decided that I wanted to really get into PVP. PVP is fun, but I feel like I extract 1/10 games on stella when I'm looking for PVP. I'm so bad, I get put back into Care-bear lobbies where people call out they're friendly.

I stopped using actual kits cause dying within 3-10 minutes of loading in, then having to make another kit over like 3-5 minutes didn't feel really worth it. I really just suck at aiming overall, my trigger finger for the kettle is really slow.

Should I give up on Shooting games and stick to what I'm comfortable with? I play around 5-6 hours a day off and on. (not just arc raiders, other games too) Feel like since I didn't grow up playing COD and other shooters I'm kinda just late to the party it feels like.
