Enable Island Backup!!! NOW!

Hi, I wanted to offer a little advice to my fellow noobs.

I started playing in January (thankfully only a few months ago, and not YEARS) and was getting so proud of how my island was coming together

Then, last Friday, my switch broke 😭 like, entirely. It just flicked off and never flicked back on.

It would cost $100 for nintendo to fix it, and they cannot guarantee that you’ll still have your old save files afterwards. A local repair place wanted to charge $300 to fix it. I could fix it myself, but would need a MICROSCOPE, and a lesson on micro-soldering.

And now my island is gone forever because you apparently have to go in and enable island backup in order to keep your save file. I’ve had multiple people tell me to call ninetendo, and that they can do it even without an available backup, but I DID call them and they confirmed that they cannot.

So! Word of advice for other newcomers! Open up your game right now, press the minus button once you get to the title screen, and ENABLE ISLAND BACKUP!

Again, super glad that this happened after 3 months and not after 3 years, but I did not enjoy pre-kks concert game, and am not excited about having to redo all of it lol
