Hi all — I posted a couple days ago about consolidating my collection and essentially trading a Grand Seiko SBGX263 and Ball Fireman for a Tudor Black Bay 41.

Back again with the latest “trade”:

Out:

Speedtimer

Solar Tuna

Combat Sub

Devil Diver

EcoZilla

Mako

Cosmotron

Diastar

Jump Hour

In:

Breitling SuperOcean Heritage 42 (well-loved / bargain bin special)

Thoughts:

All of the pieces I moved were solid. The Speedtimer and Tuna were the hardest to let go, but I still have a Pogue Speedtimer and an SBBN017 Tuna, so that softens the blow a bit.

As for the Breitling, I’m a little mixed on the seller experience. I knew it had wear, but the photos didn’t fully capture how rough it is in person. There’s also some wear on the outer AR coating that I didn’t catch beforehand.

I did a light pass with a Cape Cod cloth, and it’s at least presentable now. I may try removing the remaining AR coating, but I’m still deciding.

At the end of the day, I’m not too bothered. A full service from Breitling includes refinishing, and pricing seems fairly reasonable. The watch is running well, so I’ll probably hold off for now.

I do really like it — it’s different from anything else in my collection, and honestly the wear tones down some of the bling 😁

Questions:

Anyone have experience with Breitling service?

Do they typically bring a watch back to near “like-new” condition
