DCOT - What is it like?
I know this is probably been asked a bunch before but wanted to see if anything changed since.
This is the second time I've had a AWS recruiter reach out to me via Linkdln about a Data Center Operation Tech role. The job is rougly 30mins from me so its not bad but one thing I saw was the salary was alot less then what I already make.
Background on me, I want to become a Network Engineer and ironically, want to even manage and deploy network switch, routers, in datacenters at some point in the future. I have noice/intermediate professioal networking skills but have messed will all sorts of network appliances in my free time. I don't slack and am always looking for work to keep me busy however, this is in the hopes of growing and moving up. I don't want to be stuck doing this forever. Is there potential growth? And how possible is it now? Especially with the layoffs I constantly hear from the company.
I also heard they're really into ticket metrics. Not to toot my own horn, really hate bragging, but I tend to be a high preformer when it comes to metrics. I just go to work, get what needs to be done, done, and try to be as proactive as possible so I shine from the rest of my employees easily. Are there alot of tickets? Are they only for your level you work at? Can you take higher tier tickets?
Just want to know if this should be a next career move. I see alot of mixed results on this position.
