Controller issue in handheld mode

Recently just got the switch pro 2 controller along with a 8bitdo controller. I noticed that when in handheld mode connecting the controllers is seamless and no issues when I open a Switch 2 game but when I open a Switch 1 game the controller immediately disconnects. Same issue for both pro controller and 8bitdo. I tried the same in docked mode and there is no issue at all so the problem is just in handheld mode

Anybody else encounter this/know how to fix this?
