Right now his Hypercharge just feels useless. The smoke effect doesn’t help him land hits, doesn’t improve his movement, and doesn’t really do anything that matters in a fight. Most of the time people don’t even react to it because it’s not threatening, it’s just there. It also doesn’t fix any of his actual problems. It doesn’t help him connect his Super, doesn’t make his routes more reliable, and doesn’t give him any real pressure when he goes in. You press it and nothing really changes, you’re still playing Chuck the exact same way. That’s the biggest issue, it doesn’t build on his identity at all. Chuck is all about setting up tracks, committing to a line, and trying to run people over with good positioning. His Hypercharge should make that stronger or more dangerous, not add some random effect that has nothing to do with it. With something like extra train cars, at least it directly improves what he already does. If someone gets caught on the track, they actually get punished harder, and it finally feels like his Super has real impact. And if we’re talking about a Hyper Buff later on, that’s where a slow would actually make sense. Adding a slow to his Super would keep enemies on the track longer, making it easier for him to come back and hit them again on the rebound instead of them just walking off. Right now it just feels like wasted potential. The idea of a Hypercharge is to push a brawler to another level for a moment, but his doesn’t do that. It just exists, when it could easily be something way more impactful and actually fitting for Chuck.
