Newbie question about electronics/drivetrain

I’m starting my first build and have everything sorted except the motor, transmission,esc, and receiver. I’m in between a mofo pancake and something for esc or the furitek micromodo combo or microsilk? The combos look like they come with everything for motor and esc and have a mount but no gearing or transmission internals. Am I wrong and what are yall running? For receiver there’s plenty out there but how do you sync them? This is all new to me so if anyone can explain what I need to actually make this run would be greatly appreciated.
