Visiting in August

Travel/Tourism

Hello everyone!

Our family is considering visiting this summer. We are from Winnipeg and would be flying (then renting a vehicle). I've done the drive before, and though it is lovely, we just won't have enough time off to drive.

We will have our 5 year old with us and would love some suggestions on what to do in the area! We are planning on going to Drumheller and also a trip into Banff.

Any other suggestions on things that would be fun for us and a five year old in calgary and in the surrounding area? We love the outdoors, animals, art, music, new/different restaurants, etc.

I have been to the area a few times, but it's been a good 15+ years since I've been there. I've heard the summer is very busy with tourists and you need to book a time to visit areas like Lake Louise now and take a shuttle. Any insight on that?

Finally, any suggestions on hotels? Not looking for anything super fancy - just a nice clean hotel. If it has a pool and waterslide, that's just a bonus.

Thanks for reading!
