Canadian here - can’t afford Mounjaro anymore, what are my options?
Canadian here 🇨🇦
I recently had to stop Mounjaro after about 5 months due to cost ($400+/month out of pocket, no insurance coverage). I was on 5mg and it honestly changed everything for me.
While I was on it, I completely lost interest in greasy/junk foods, my portions naturally got smaller, and for the first time I didn’t feel that “panic” around food like I had to eat everything before it was gone. It helped me make healthier choices because anything heavy or overly processed just didn’t appeal to me anymore.
Since stopping about 3 weeks ago, I’ve noticed those old patterns creeping back in pretty quickly, especially bingeing and craving junk food. It’s been frustrating because it really showed me how much the medication was helping beyond just weight loss.
I tried speaking with a telehealth doctor about alternatives, but they weren’t very open to discussing options, which was discouraging.
For anyone in Canada (especially without coverage):
Have you found any more affordable alternatives to Mounjaro?
Has anyone had success switching to something like Ozempic, Contrave, or anything else for appetite/binge control?
Any tips for managing the rebound hunger and binge urges after stopping?
Would really appreciate hearing others experiences, this medication helped me in ways I didn’t fully realize until I had to stop.
