What are some of your Head canons for Snape?
child, teen or adult Severus.
Mine:
Child: He would sometimes sneak out to escape his home and look for a quiet place to read or just look at the stars, hoping for a better life.
-
As a teen, I think he’d like Alternative music/clothing since it felt like himself and he could express himself comfortably
-
Perhaps he experimented with Alt makeup for a short while by “borrowing” Lily’s eyeliner and persuading her to try black/monotone makeup which she ended up giving to him
-
He liked bands like Black Sabbath and Metallica but could never afford to go to a concert. So he relied on people reselling the merch. And saving for the actual took some time but he managed.
-
One time he persuaded Lucius to take him and Lucius did. Severus enjoyed himself, but Lucius not so much. It was Severus’s first and only concert he went to.
-
As he got near his adult hood, he got a part time job to help finance not just his needs, but also his hobbies and interests.
-
As he got into his adult hood, he looked back and felt embarrassed but deep down, it made him happy. And he kept everything he bought since he got the money himself and didn’t rely on stealing money from his father or asking other’s to buy them for him.
-
He was a raging bisexual. But due to his shyness, he never actually asked anyone out. He just silently hung out with people, worried they’d reject him and leave him.
Adult: 1. I feel like he would over compensate from being unable to afford any hygiene products to becoming a neat freak in his adult hood. His Dorm’s bathroom probably has a lot of hygiene products.
I know that the book conflicts it, but your hair can get greasy if you over wash it.
- I feel like he would have a hidden cabin deep in the woods so he can take a break from life sometimes and collect his potion ingredients in peace.
Severus always felt like a cabin person to me. And he bought it/made it himself so it feels like his real home. Not spinner’s end. It’s his own sanctuary. But he does stay at spinner’s end periodically because he did have at least a few good memories with his mother when his father was not home. And he couldn’t let the house go as much as he tried.
And he would like his cabin to stay unknown so if he knew he had guests coming, he’d stay at spinner’s end.
-
He rarely went home in my head canon. Stayed at Hogwarts over holidays because he has the proper equipment to do his brewing. And sometimes went to his cabin when things were overwhelming
-
I’m not saying he is, but I myself got diagnosed with Autism. And many mannerisms Severus does, I also do and were the bases for my diagnosis. In my head canon, he’s on the spectrum.
Is this a way for me to further relate to him? Maybe. But for me it makes a lot of sense in terms of his behaviour, personality, character and even some of his choices
And yes I know not everyone on the spectrum has the same traits/characteristics. But it’s bothered me for a while and it makes a lot of sense to me for Severus to have some kind of high functioning autism. And it’s how I interpret his actions that makes sense to me :)
[Disclaimer: Do not harass other’s on their head canons please]
