Chances of getting a Work Visa in Cybersecurity without a degree?
Hi,
I am preparing to apply for the Working Holiday Visa and also trying to plan long term in terms of what options are available to me to stay longer.
A bit of background, I am a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer by trade, have a ton of certificates, and currently 29 years old. In the past year I also ran a business that I sold for around $1m.
Because of that, I have quite a big battle chest. My plan is to get a job in Japan and be able to stay once the working holiday visa ends, mainly because I really like Japan and the culture. Been here twice coming from the UK and loved it every time.
The main issue is, I don't have a degree. I never needed one, however I have a very impressive CV.
Apparently you're unable to get a work visa without having a degree or 10 years work experience.
I am unfortunately on my 6th year, so don't qualify for the 10 years and have no degree.
I have no doubt that I can land a role, I will be mainly looking for Startup-style companies. I will make my base in Fukuoka as that's Japan's number 1 startup city.
Did anyone get a work visa successfully without the degree?
An alternative option is the startup visa and then the business manager visa but I don't really want to sink 6 figures into a business and hire 2 employees that I don't need.
Any advice would be appreciated, I am mainly looking for people with the same situation.
