Need Help Building Alchemist (Valda's Spire of Secrets) for a Curse of Strahd Campaign

As asked above. I am interested in trying out Valda's Alchemist class, but never played it before. The subclasses that interest me are Venomsmith, Mutagenist, and Xenoalchemist. As someone who enjoys playing backline ranged builds and who is looking for a great and fun build to try out with Alchemist, what can you suggest to help out a first-time Alchemist player?
