Getting rejected for UX internships
Howdy,
I am honestly getting pretty discouraged and wanted to see if anyone else has gone through this..
I'm currently a junior in college and I’ve applied to a ton of UX internship (and even tailor my resumes for each one). I consistently make it to the final round. Like almost every time, even with MedTech and Fortune 500 companies. But then I get rejected because someone else had a “slight edge” or “more experience" than me...
What’s frustrating is..
• I’ve had 5 internships (marketing & ux focus)
• I have solid case studies
• I can communicate my thinking well in interviews, and can speak 3 languages fluently.
• I’ve put a lot of effort into my portfolio and resumes / cover letters
And I still get the same result everytime.. At this point it feels like I’m doing everything right but still losing to someone who maybe had one extra internship or something slightly better than me (?). I honestly don't even know. I thought internships were about getting experience and seeing potential...
I’m starting to feel stuck in that loop of
no UX internship → makes it to finals → can’t get UX internship → repeat
Has anyone broken out of this? What actually made the difference for you? Advice is greatly appreciated.
