Produce hours

I work for Vons as a dairy manager. Recently an email went out to be given to our produce clerks. That some of them have to stay until 10pm for “conditions”. They have been tracking the clerks in our district to see what time they go home.

Everyone in the district was like fuck that. We are coming earlier to work the load instead of being alone and over worked trying to catch up from the department being empty for several hours.

The email they received and gave to each of the produce clerks was a letter of resignation. In other words. They are threading their jobs for not making metrics of what time they go home. . Labor is already fucked. In dairy. I’m pretty much building a warehouse in my small backroom that can’t fit a pallet. Slowly taking cases out of the back room and distressing them when the time comes since no labor to stock multiples of junk corporate and my buddy far decides that I need.

I’m pretty pissed off the union rolled over on our last contract dispute. Shit got way worse. Sure we got a minor bump in pay in so cal but everything else was a joke. I’d rather have mandatory staffing at this point than more pay.

Anyways. I guess tldr is did any of your stores get these mandatory late shifts in produce, deli, and meat? Did it make a difference? Or are you like us. Malicious compliance? Everyone I’ve talked to is on a work slowdown since we can never catch up.

Shit I don’t even have time to clean my milk racks. I never even cleaned them for audit issues. I cleaned them because they stink and I have to work back there. Now. Fuck that. I’m spending so much time adjusting inventory for far2.0. That nothing gets done.

I believe they need to get rid of all corporate. Throw the labor back into stores. Turn off far. Let us order like the old days. Let us work what we need to make the department function on store level. Stop putting us under the same umbrella. No two stores are a like.

So much waste. So many unrealistic expectations.
