Hutson’s case is pretty simple. He was so far ahead of his time that comparing him to his peers almost feels unfair. The dude was basically out there inventing modern receiver play while everyone else was still treating the forward pass like suspicious new technology. If this is a “greatest relative to era” argument, Hutson is a \*monster\*.

But Reggie has the kind of case that hits us Packer fans right in the chest. He wasn’t just an all-time great player who wore the uniform. He changed the feeling of the franchise. He made Green Bay look like a destination, anchored a championship defense, and tossed grown offensive linemen around like he was late for dinner. Also, aesthetically, the hump move may be the strongest single argument ever made in defensive line play.

Where do I land? I think Hutson is probably the greater historical Packer, just because “helped redefine the sport” is hard to top. But if this turns into a pure Packers fan gut-check vote, Reggie is going to be very hard to beat. One guy changed football. The other looked like he was built in a lab to dominate it. Both changed the trajectory of our franchise.
