I've been experimenting on if I should do long monologues at the start of these posts or quickly show the paintings and try to say as little as possible. In the end, the deciding factor is probably how interesting the given theme is. I guess it does not matter as much as I think it does.

I knew pretty fast after the last vote that I wanted to do a Hougoumont vote next. I thought first of Robert Gibb, but I wasn't so sure of the next painting. I was first thinking of doing Keith Rocco's painting of Hougoumont, but in the end, I decided to pick the one I did. It was a completely new discovery for me, although I do think it is genuinely beautiful and a rare painting of Nassau troops from the Napoleonic Wars.

The reason I didn't decide to put Keith Rocco's painting is that I feel it is contrary to the goal I talked about in the first post, which was to try to share more unknown paintings from this time. I don't want to imply Rocco is world-famous or anything, but he is living and breathing, and probably still painting. He has his own website here: [https://keithrocco.com](https://keithrocco.com/) . You can buy his paintings from there, and there's not a lot to prevent you from downloading them from there as well if you'd like to, using Chrome extensions, not that I am encouraging that. I just wanted to write this here in case someone asks about Keith Rocco two months from now, in which case I can refer them to this post here.

What's the best painting of the fighting at Château d'Hougoumont?
