My 600 square foot apartment only has a pre-installed window AC and I can’t get humidity below 65, is this normal?

Humidity outside is about 89% and it’s 48 degrees. Yesterday I left the window open while I was at work since i have a new rug and want to get rid of the smell and when I got home humidity in my apartment was over 80 with the walls sweating. I turned the AC on to cool overnight and it was 60 the next morning but I set ut to heat since it’s cold out and the humidity started rising again. How do I know if the AC isn’t working or if this is normal? I notice that my neighbors never have their AC running so I’m not sure if I’m somehow doing something wrong or if theyre just fine with the humidity
