Guided Notes For Science?! Yes or No?
I'm a new teacher and have used guided notes all year for regents chemistry. There is a lot of material and new terms in chemistry and students struggle so I thought guided notes was the way to go. But I realize most students dont even look at them after they fill them in class. and when I teach I'm constantly saying we're on top of page ... It feels like a huge waste of time to make them and I don't think it's actually helping them learn. I was thinking of doing no note packets and maybe doing notebook checkks randomly but idk if all students can handle this. I'm feeling really torn especially with the new chem standards next year. Any advice is appreciated!
