Can letting balls hit me help me get over the fear of getting hit with a pitch?
[high school junior] So basically I’ve realized my poor batting is due to fear of getting hit.
I field at a high level and my batting mechanics are sound but when I’m facing a pitcher my entire at bat becomes me looking for if I should dodge a pitch or not.
It’s not that I don’t want to feel the pain of getting hit (it doesn’t hurt that bad but I get distracted instinctually…) , it’s like more anxiety than anything but it completely ruins my at bats.
I was thinking maybe if I had somebody throw at me and I just took it maybe I could overcome that fear. Also if in game instead of moving from pitches, if I just stood in it would eliminate that variable of deciding: swing take or dodge, if that makes sense🤷🏽♂️
Anyone have experience with this would be a great help. Thank you.
