“Huh? Who’s there?” Message visible while I was in the mines, then gone when I came out

It looked like there was a “who’s there” message signifying a new wild pokemon appearing at a habitat by the waterfall area in rocky ridges. I came out of the mines and found…. Nothing. Is there a time limit on getting to a new Pokémon before it just disappears??????
