Working While Volunteering?
Hey guys I’m a freshman student taking advantage of my free community college courses before transferring to university and I am currently volunteering at the hospital down the street from campus, by the time my volunteer commitment is done I would have around 213 hours in the next year or so. I was wondering if I should take up a position at the hospital while I am getting my volunteer hours or if I should wait until my year is over. Currently I am working at Starbucks for about half a year now because I had the impression that financial aid wasn’t able to cover my classes, in which it did. After talking with my peers at the hospital and receiving advice from my psychiatrist I was told applying for a nurse tech position would benefit me greatly and it would be nice because my boyfriend is also a nurse tech in a different unit so we could have lunch together!
Though I love my coworkers at Starbucks I know I won’t be there for long, should I take up the position as a nurse tech while I am working for my volunteer hours or should I wait until my commitment agreement expires? Let me know what you guys think!
