Would a storage unit be a bad idea short term?

I currently live in a single wide mobile home with my father. I have a lot of stuff and unfortunately to declutter I need a lot of space to really see everything so I can make decisions. right now that's basically impossible with the amount of shit I have. I was debating about getting a storage unit to put items that I know I'm keeping in so I can actually have space to sort through the stuff I need to (and get my ass in gear because I'm paying money). I'm on the fence about it though because I'm nervous it will backfire on me.
